I didn't see any pigeons today while pedaling around Pigeon Creek Reservoir in Arkansas, but I did see and ride some great singletrack. I also got to see an amazing Cypress grove at waters edge. These suckers are monsters. Some measured up to eight feet around. Still.......curious as to why it is called Pigeon Creek? Pretty sure they don't swim...

Got a call from Kyle Ebbett yesterday. "We just started digging" Which is usually code for get your ass over here and throw some dirt. I finished my ride grabbed a slice and headed. I arrived at Kyle's house to find Ryan Luciano And Ryan McEvoy already doing the dirty work. After a great session in the back yard we slid down the highway and into the forest to check out one of the sweeter stashes around. Don't try and find it cause it doesn't really exist.

A couple weeks back Mr. Brooke Scatchard and I took a little journey to Asheville North Carolina for work/play. I was amazed as to how similar the town folk are to my town folk, folks. Kind of odd but familiar Burlington VT feel. Anyway... blah blah, shot some pics, rode the Mountain Bike on some saaweeet single track in both NC and VA and arrived home absolutely broke.

Go Fly A Kite

Yesterday was great. It was spent out on the ice with a good friend and some very cool folks.
Sandbar Beach on Lake Champlain is the meeting place for local kite boarders and skiers. Local riders and the crew from Stormboarding took advantage of the breezy conditions with freeriding and Ladies Clinics. If you want to see some of the elite riders come to Kite Storm 2011 and show your support.

Back to the light

It always blows my mind how moving slightly to the left or right will change how everything looks. Lately I have been revisiting my roots and doing some macro photography with natural light and varying ranges of depth of field (DOF or Bokeh for the linguistically cool people). When practicing macro you get really really close to the subject which limits the natural light coverage. This can create very dramatic lighting and great "emotional" photos with the simplest of subjects.

Lake and a pizza

Yesterday was absolutely amazing down at the lake. Crisp sub zero air and water temps somewhere in the 30's made for the coolest fog (no pun intended) as you look south from Burlington. Even the ducks knew it was warmer in the water than in the sky as hundreds of them huddled in the corner of the cove to stay out of the bone chilling wind. Took me about 3 hours of hiking around before the thoughts of hot pizza became to great to ignore. Now the question is how am I going to eat my slice with fingers that quit working hours ago?

....Is this thing on ?!!

Mid August was my last post just before hitting the road for a few months.
I toured around the Midwest and then the Eastern Seaboard on a photo/marketing tour and on my journeys met some amazing people, saw some incredible art and of course snapped a few photos. The two with this post however have nothing to do with anything I just said. Except they are of course, photos.

Little Black Dress

A little over a week ago Rhiannon came to the studio for her second shoot with me. We tossed around some ideas and tried a few concepts and ultimately ended up with a series showing how to rock the "little black dress". Rhiannon is an amazing model, she jumps into shoots open minded and with an incredibly relaxed mood. I shot using only one light source and a reflector to give a dramatic yet sexy natural light effect.

Normally I live for rich vibrant colors. The past few weeks I found myself drawn to the contrast of light and everyday objects. If it catches my eye even for a second I'll shoot it and then sit back later reviewing what was captured and why. I hope you enjoy my visions of every life. Maybe we will bump into each other on the street someday and share thoughts.

IdeRide Bike and Brew Fest at Burke Mtn.

This weekend I had the privilege of hanging and riding with some of the East Coast's finest mountain bikers. IdeRide, Burke Mountain Resort and the Kingdom Trails held there 2nd annual Bike And Brew Fest. As expected the town was packed with riders and the jump jam was insane.
Larry Sereduck, Dane Burke (Sinister Bikes), Rocco Quintiliani, Mike Kent (Dobermann Bikes), Caldwell Clarke, David Blachura (Bern), some recent graduates of the IdeRide Freeride Camp and of course the host Knight Ide threw down for the crowd.

Every Tuesday night trail runners gather at the Catamount Outdoor Center in Williston for, well, trail running. After speaking with Eric (GM) I secured a spot on the redevelopment team for the 4 cross and dirt jump park. If you have never experienced this set up you are missing out on something quite incredible.

Don't say I didn't warn you about the PBR.

40 degree water and 33 degree temps equal a great day on the river.
My daughter (Hali) and I spent the morning Just outside of Bristol Vermont with the Vermont Paddlers at the annual New Haven River Festival. www.vtpaddlers.net
The course was about a mile in length and worked it's way over frozen rocks and icey falls.
Everyone seemed to have a great time. Even the poor coffee stand volunteer who was doing the "it's cold dance" for most the morning.

2010 U.S. Open of Snowboarding

Friday at the Open was one of the warmest I can remember in my 15 years of going.
I was there for the rail jam that evening which turned out to be one of the coolest setups I have seen yet. Right-on to SPT (Snow Park Technologies) and Burton Snowboards for a great venue.

Tuesday at Jay Peak Resort in Northern Vermont was epic.

and myself got together for a little R&D.

2-3 feet of fresh powder fell on Sunday and Monday leaving us to believe it would all be tracked out by the time we arrived on Tuesday. As we were in line for the Tram the attendent informed us that all the upper lifts had been closed for 2 days due to high winds. This was the first Tram up since the snow fall.............EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Claymore Challenge, Highland Mountain Bike Park, N.H. 7/18/09

What a great weekend of riding and hanging out with good people.

Spent some time in So. Cal. Last week.
Crazy weather. 105 inland and 78 on the coast 30 degree temp difference in a 45 minute drive. Awesome. A little to warm for park riding for this guy. Apparently the feeling was shared by the locals as well. So off to the coast. maybe I would have better luck there.
Got to Oceanside to discover the wood park had been taken down and replaced with a huge timeshare complex.
At least the surfers were out. Snapped a few shots scored a sunburn and picked up some PBR.
I found shooting in the airport to be fun and rewarding as well.
